Hi! I'm Dawn, I'm originally from England, but in1987 I came for a holiday to Phuket and never went home again!!
When I first came to Phuket I fell in love with the place and the people. It was one of the safest places I'd ever been to. The people are so friendly, and there is no apparent racism, everyone lives together in harmony despite the colour of their skin or their religion.
When I decided to stay I joined in on a Prawn Farm, it was good business then, everyone got rich very quickly, then poor very quickly when too many farms opened up. So out of work with no idea of what to do, I took up a friend's offer to start a restaurant on Coral Island. I ran that for about seven years, until the land owner decided to use the land to make his own restaurant, and there I was with no where to go until I was recommended to Bon Island. At the time I was devestated to be leaving the booming Coral Island, but as it turns out it was the best thing that could have happened! Now another seven years later, I love Bon Island, it's so natural and peaceful, it feels like my own little paradise. Business is not so good, as the island doesn't appear in many guide books, and is even missing from many of the unofficial Phuket maps. So if you have the time to come and visit, just get on a longtail boat and I'll see you for lunch!

To rent a house should be possible, how long are you planning on staying, and how many people? What area do you want to rent? My friend Sue runs villas in Rawai beach, you can see the link to Coconut Paradise on the main page, however to rent a villa is the same kind of price as staying in a hotel. My sister and her family (4 people) stayed there for about 10 days and it cost about 30,000 for a private villa, with (small) private swimming pool. The villa had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room with attached kitchen, washing machine, TV, DVD and was a nice place to stay. But if you want a house, you may not get a swimming pool, but should be about half the price, although I will have to ask around for you.
